Responsibilities include delivering classroom sessions, small group, individual, and tailored 1-2-1 support. The work is based at the Kingswood Centre, a vocational and recreation facility shared by various wards. The post involves working in a secure environment with patients detained under The Mental Health Act, 1983 (amended 2007), many with severe mental illness, learning disabilities, or autism.

The post holder will work as part of the Vocational Services and Kingswood Team, closely collaborating with the Occupational Therapy Department to provide therapeutic activities for patients within North London Forensic Service at Chase Farm Hospital.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Identify individual learner needs, ensuring each has a tailored learning plan aligned with their employment goals.
  2. Review learner progress regularly to ensure training meets their needs.
  3. Prepare, deliver, and review lesson plans addressing literacy, numeracy, language, and social/employability barriers.
  4. Collaborate with colleagues and hosts to facilitate learner progression towards qualifications and employment.
  5. Work autonomously with patients and Occupational Therapists to set goals for art-related sessions within care plans.
  6. Plan and implement patient-centered interventions, using graded activities to meet educational goals.
  7. Assess and manage risks within therapy and ward environments, ensuring safety during treatment sessions.
  8. Advise OT team members on risk management and ensure adherence to service protocols.
  9. Contribute to multidisciplinary risk assessments and alert management of significant issues.
  10. Plan, facilitate, and evaluate group and individual interventions.
  11. Engage in continuous curriculum review and improvement based on feedback.
  12. Motivate and engage learners to increase session retention.

Additional considerations include flexibility to work at different locations within Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Haringey, or Islington, as required by the Trust.
