Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are recruiting a Functional Skills Tutor to support learners across North Yorkshire. Start date is immediate and roles include delivering English and Maths functional skills to students with diverse needs.

You'll plan engaging lessons, monitor progress, maintain records, and adapt teaching to meet varied learning styles while offering emotional support to those facing challenges such as SEND and SEMH.

Qualifications

• Teaching qualification (QTS preferred) or strong tutoring/TA experience.
• Experience supporting children with SEND, SEMH or additional needs.
• Enhanced Child Workforce DBS on Update Service or willingness to obtain one with support.

Responsibilities

• Delivering engaging Functional Skills sessions (1:1 and small groups).
• Planning creative lessons tailored to each learner's needs.
• Monitoring progress and providing constructive feedback.
• Adapting teaching strategies to meet a variety of learning styles.
• Keeping accurate records of attendance, progress and achievements.
• Providing emotional support and understanding individual learner needs.

Tradewind Recruitment are proud to be working closely with the North Yorkshire LEA to provide dedicated support to students studying Functional Skills across the region. We are now looking for a passionate Functional Skills Tutor to join our team with immediate starts and help young people develop essential English and Maths skills that will set them up for future success.

In this role, you'll be making a real difference to learners who may face a range of challenges, including behavioural needs, SEND and being in care. Your support will empower them to grow in confidence, achieve their goals, and overcome barriers to learning.

What You'll Be Doing
