Functional Skills Tutor
Remote
£25,000-£33,000 per annum
Full time - Permanent

Pertemps is excited to collaborate with a training provider seeking to expand their team. We are looking for dedicated and experienced Functional Skills tutors to support the growth and development of current learners. The role involves delivering education, training, and assessment, ensuring student well-being and progress, fulfilling administrative duties, and meeting performance targets.

The responsibilities of the Functional Skills Tutor:
  1. Deliver high-quality, inclusive teaching and learning sessions both face-to-face and remotely, including 1-2-1 and group sessions as needed.
  2. Prepare relevant course materials, including resources, lesson plans, and schemes of work that meet awarding body standards.
  3. Utilize initial assessment results to tailor learning needs.
  4. Collaborate with employers to develop training programs that meet their requirements and add value for learners.
  5. Monitor learner progress to ensure timely achievement.
  6. Support the achievement of KPIs, business performance, and contractual targets related to learner retention and success rates.
  7. Gather feedback from learners to improve support materials and learning experiences.
  8. Work with the Quality and Compliance Team to ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and on time, adhering to contractual and regulatory standards.
  9. Stay updated with Ofsted, awarding organization, and stakeholder requirements.
  10. Promote safeguarding, Prevent, British values, and the importance of Maths and English in all sessions.
  11. Employ diverse delivery methods suited to learner needs.
  12. Provide additional sessions and one-to-one support to facilitate learner success.
  13. Accurately track and record learner progress, including predicted achievement and success rates.
  14. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all programs, including apprenticeships, commercial offerings, and recruitment services.
The qualifications/requirements of the Functional Skills Tutor:
  1. Experience delivering English and Maths to groups and individuals from diverse backgrounds.
  2. Full teaching qualification such as PGCE, PCET, or DTLLS.
  3. Recognized assessor award: D32/D33, A1, TAQA, or CAVA.
  4. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Understanding of different learning styles and differentiation techniques.
  6. Willingness to work flexible hours and locations, demonstrating commitment and enthusiasm.
  7. Knowledge of teaching and learning strategies.
  8. Strong organizational, IT, and administrative skills.
