Job description

Help get better trained personnel to the front line faster

Project Selborne is a Transformational Training programme with a strategic goal of modernising Royal Navy training to deliver "better trained sailors to the front line faster".

As a Functional Skills Tutor, your job is to support learners in the Naval Service who are working through their Apprenticeship Programmes by teaching English and Maths. You'll bring your subject knowledge to help them succeed, making sure everything meets company standards, contract expectations, and the rules set by the awarding bodies.

Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.

What you'll be doing

  • To deliver English and Maths tutoring for Functional Skills programmes in support of the Royal Navy Apprenticeship Contract.
  • Support Learners progress their Apprenticeship Programmes in the naval service
  • Manage and support examinations, including administrative tasks and invigilation in line with exam board regulations.
  • Engage in professional development and participate in quality assurance activities such as teaching observations and inspections to maintain high teaching standards.
  • Coordinate exam support by processing access arrangements and concessions for internal and external assessments.

What we're looking for

Essential Skills/Experience/Qualifications

  • Minimum of level 2/GCSE in English and Maths
  • Formal teaching/coaching qualification
  • Strong MS Office knowledge

Desirable Skills/Experience/Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a teacher/tutor/coach
  • Level 4 teaching qualification
  • Level 3 qualification in English & Maths

About Selborne

Selborne is a wide scale, 12 year transformation of Royal Navy Training. The contract worth GBP 1 billion was awarded in December 2020 to a consortium led by Capita to deliver and modernise training for the RN.
