A community education provider in Chatham is seeking a part-time Functional Skills English Teacher to deliver a Study Programme to disadvantaged learners. You will guide students towards achieving their English qualifications while developing their skills. The ideal candidate will hold a Level 4 teaching qualification and have experience working with diverse groups. This is a permanent role offering 20 hours per week.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic English Tutor to join a small team delivering a Study Programme to disadvantaged learners at the Nacro education centre in Chatham.

Who are we looking for?

We are seeking an inspirational English Tutor to work as part of the Chatham teaching team, ensuring learners achieve the appropriate English qualifications while developing their employability, personal, and social skills.

Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Deliver training and support to 16-19-year-olds on Nacro’s Study Programme, from Entry Level to GCSE
  • Ensure all relevant young people achieve Functional Skills/GCSE qualifications
  • Develop resources and deliver training programmes to service users
  • Carry out initial assessments of the service users
  • Create support plans and regularly monitor progress
  • Use resources efficiently and securely at all times

The successful candidate should have experience guiding a diverse group of clients through the requirements of awarding bodies such as City & Guilds and AQA. They should also be able to identify preferred learning styles and engage with difficult-to-reach young people.

Essential qualifications include a Level 4 teaching qualification (Certificate in Education & Training (CET) or an equivalent) or Level 5 (Diploma in Education & Training (DET), Cert Ed, or equivalent), along with Level 4 or above in English.

A DBS check will be required for this role.
