Job Description

A key player in the UK's defence and security landscape, leveraging cutting-edge science and technology to provide strategic advantages, is looking for a Functional Safety Specialist to join their team in Salisbury, Wiltshire (hybrid working).

In this role, you will bring excellent leadership skills with a passion for Health & Safety to play an integral role at the organisation by developing, maintaining, and evolving their built estate.

This role requires the ability to drive the business forward by implementing the highest standards of safety, supporting initiatives, and ensuring continuous improvement in safety practices across the organisation to meet its values.

Our work in defence, security, and intelligence requires employees to be UK nationals who can gain security clearance to undertake involved projects. Therefore, only UK residents are eligible to apply for this role.

This position requires full UK security clearance, and applicants should have resided in the UK for the past 5 years.

Provide Functional Safety Leadership, including:

  • Developing Functional Safety policy and procedures
  • Undertaking Functional Safety inspection and auditing activities
  • Performing safety-related systems requirements capture and analysis
  • Collaborating with the organisation's Operations department to develop Functional Safety requirements for new or modified building projects
  • Supporting investigations of incidents, dangerous occurrences, and near-misses involving safety-related systems

Experience

  • Experience in developing Functional Safety policy and procedures
  • Proven expertise in Safety Integrity Level (SIL) requirements capture and analysis
  • Practical experience and understanding of managing risks in process safety/high hazard environments
