Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute functional safety strategies and plans in compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 61508, ISO 21448).
  • Support the implementation of functional safety processes throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Support safety analysis, including Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Hazard and Risk Assessments (HARA).
  • Perform safety validation and verification activities to ensure system compliance with functional safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including design, software, and testing, to ensure safety goals are met.
  • Support the development of safety requirements and safety concepts for systems and components.
  • Participate in safety reviews and audits to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations.
  • Provide technical guidance on functional safety to internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Prepare functional safety documentation, including safety plans, safety cases, and safety reports.
  • Stay updated with emerging trends and advancements in functional safety and related technologies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or related field).
  • Minimum 5 years of experience.
  • Proven experience in functional safety engineering, ideally within the automotive or industrial sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of functional safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262, IEC 61508, ISO 21448).
  • Experience in conducting safety analysis techniques like FMEA, FTA, and HARA.
  • Familiarity with safety lifecycle processes, including validation and verification activities.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to communicate in Japanese.
  • Willingness to travel as required.
