Job summary

Everpool Recruitment is recruiting for Disability Assessor roles (PIP/WCA) in Southampton. These positions offer a path for healthcare professionals to move away from hands-on practice while using clinical knowledge, with Monday–Friday hours, no nights or weekends, and fully paid training.

As a PIP Functional Assessor you will write reports daily; as a WCA you will write five to six reports per day. Hybrid working and progression opportunities are available.

£40,000–£42,000 starting salary + bonus scheme and benefits

Hybrid remote roles available across the Southampton area

Are you an experienced healthcare professional looking to step away from hands‑on clinical work while continuing to use your clinical knowledge and professional expertise?

We are currently recruiting for PIP and WCA Functional Assessors in Southampton. These roles offer a fantastic opportunity to move into a structured assessment-based position with Monday–Friday working, no nights or weekends, fully paid training and excellent career progression.

The Roles

As a PIP Functional Assessor, you will assess how an individual's physical and/or mental health conditions affect their ability to carry out everyday activities and mobility. You would be expected to write 3 detailed reports per day.

As a WCA Functional Assessor, you will assess how an individual's health conditions affect their functional ability and capacity for work and work‑related activities. You would be expected to write 5 to 6 reports per day.

In both roles, you will:

• Conduct telephone and face‑to‑face assessments.
• Take detailed clinical histories and ask structured questions.
• Assess the impact of physical, mental and cognitive health conditions.
• Review medical evidence, health questionnaires and supporting information.
• Apply your clinical reasoning and professional judgement.
• Produce accurate, objective and evidence‑based reports for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). The DWP makes the final decision — your role is to provide an objective, evidence‑based assessment.

Salary & Benefits

• £40,000 increasing to £42,000 after 12 months (PIP)
• £42,000 increasing to £43,000 after 12 months (WCA)
• 5% bonus upon successful approval following training
• Up to 10% annual performance and quality bonus

No previous Functional Assessor experience is required.

You will receive a comprehensive 12‑week fully paid training programme, covering:

• PIP and WCA assessment methodology
• DWP guidelines and requirements
• Clinical assessment techniques
• Evidence evaluation
• Clinical reasoning
• Report writing
• Functional assessment

You’ll receive ongoing support as you transition from your clinical role into your new position.
