Functional Assessor - WCA

Registered Nurse RMN/RNLD/RGN, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Paramedic

Salary: £45,500-£47,500+ per year + bonus scheme

Location: Hybrid - Reading

Schedule: Monday - Friday, No Weekends

About the Role

Are you looking to take your career as a nurse (RMN/RNLD/RGN), occupational therapist, paramedic, or physiotherapist in a new direction? This role offers a balance of compassion, attention to detail, and professional development within the medico-legal field or occupational/vocational pathways.

• You will assess up to four to six customers per day.
• Assessments may be conducted via paper, telephone, video, or face-to-face.
• You will gather clinical observations, ask questions, and produce written reports.
• Your reports will be passed to the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) for support decisions.
• The primary benefit assessed is the Employment and Support Allowance managed by DWP.

Training & Development

Comprehensive industry-leading training will be provided by expert clinical tutors, equipping you to support customers effectively and transfer your current medical skills to this role.

The full training lasts approximately six months and is paid. It will help you maintain your registration with RGN or HCPC, with ongoing support for revalidation.

Post-training, you will receive continuous CPD opportunities, revalidation support, and career development options within the organization. You will be assigned a clinical supervisor and may study for the Diploma in Disability Assessment Medicine accredited by the FOM.

Your Requirements

You should be a nurse, OT, paramedic, or physiotherapist with at least one year of clinical experience, primarily in inpatient settings. Strong IT skills, including typing at 35 words per minute, are advantageous. The role requires clinicians who are highly literate, detail-oriented, and possess adaptable communication skills.
