Functional Assessor - Plymouth

About the role

You will play a crucial role in the functional and disability assessments process, which impacts the lives of millions in the UK. You will work autonomously to assess cases of individuals applying for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) or a Work Capability Assessment (WCA) as part of the DWP's Health Assessment and Advisory Services (HAAS).

This involves conducting consultations and writing fair, accurate reports. You will be assigned to assess either PIP or WCA cases, not both. During your application process, we will inform you about the specific service you'll work on and discuss your training requirements.

No prior experience as a Functional Assessor is necessary. We offer accredited training and a dedicated support structure to support your career transition.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct consultations via phone, video, or in person with individuals applying for PIP or WCA
• Assess complex conditions and impairments
• Write high-quality, fair, and accurate assessment reports using our IT system
• Collaborate with your line manager to develop your professional skills and career as a Functional Assessor

Essential experience and qualifications

• Minimum of 12 months post-registration experience as a Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Paramedic, Physiotherapist, Pharmacist, or Occupational Therapist
• Full registration with one of the following bodies: Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), or General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
