Salary: Up to £37,500 pa plus benefits

The role

As a Functional Assessor, your main task will be to assess individuals and how their disabilities or conditions affect their work life. Drawing on your clinical expertise, you'll listen carefully and take down each person's medical history before performing a physical examination. You'll then produce concise, accurate reports for the DWP so they can decide each person's eligibility for benefits.

The role involves meeting people both face-to-face and via telephone/video. Whether online or in person, you'll be sensitive, compassionate, and able to ask the right questions while upholding best practice standards.

You will have sufficient time to make precise assessments and give each person your full attention. While you'll work independently, you'll be part of a wider multidisciplinary team, with support available as part of the package.

About You
  • Registered Nurse, Paramedic, Occupational Therapist, or Physio with at least 12 months of recent, broad-based post-registration experience.
  • Experience in functional assessment and clinical decision-making is advantageous.
  • Continuous Professional Development (CPD) documented on CV.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body.
  • Understanding of clinical governance and delivering quality customer service.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, adaptable to a changing environment.
  • IT proficiency and experience with various software.
  • Self-aware, committed to professional growth.
  • Honest, maintaining integrity and confidentiality.
  • Motivated to deliver empathetic, respectful assessments.
  • Ability to work independently to meet deadlines and standards.
  • Reliable team player willing to support multidisciplinary collaboration.
  • Eligible to work in the UK without visa sponsorship.
