Functional Assessor - Hastings

About the role

You will play a crucial role in the functional and disability assessments process, impacting millions in the UK. You will work autonomously to assess cases for the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) or Work Capability Assessment (WCA) as part of the DWP's Health Assessment and Advisory Services (HAAS).

This involves conducting consultations and writing fair, accurate reports. You will be assigned to assess either PIP or WCA cases, not both. During your application process, we will inform you which service you will work on and discuss the training involved.

No prior experience as a Functional Assessor is required. We offer accredited training and dedicated support to facilitate your career change.

Key responsibilities
  • Conduct consultations via phone, video, or in person with PIP or WCA applicants
  • Assess complex conditions and impairments
  • Write high-quality, fair, and accurate assessment reports using our IT system
  • Collaborate with your line manager for professional development
Essential experience and qualifications
  • Minimum of 12 months post-registration experience as a Nurse (RGN, RMN, RNLD), Paramedic, Physiotherapist, Pharmacist, or Occupational Therapist
  • Full registration with one of the following bodies: NMC, HCPC, or GPhC
