Job summary

Vallum Associates seeks an experienced Functional Architect with deep Energy Trading and ETRM expertise to shape strategic architecture and ensure long-term coherence.

This is not a hands-on engineering role; you will define target-state architecture, provide governance, and align tactical deliveries with a sustainable strategic vision.

Qualifications

• Functional / Domain Architecture within Energy Trading or Utilities.
• Energy trading processes – Power/Gas, Scheduling, Nominations, Positions, Risk & Settlements.
• Architecture governance and tactical vs. strategic solution assessment.
• ETRM platform rationalisation and technical-debt reduction.
• Enterprise data, canonical data models & integration architecture.
• High-volume / half-hourly smart meter data and time-series modelling.
• APIs, Kafka/event-driven architecture and modern data platforms.

Responsibilities

• Define target-state architecture and guardrails to guide delivery.

I’m looking for an experienced Functional Architect with strong ETRM and Energy Trading domain expertise for a strategic architecture role.

This is not a hands-on engineering role. The organisation already has strong Solution Architects and Engineers. The key requirement is someone who can provide functional architecture, target-state definition and architectural governance to ensure tactical deliveries align with a coherent long-term architecture.

Key experience:

• Functional / Domain Architecture within Energy Trading or Utilities
• Energy trading processes – Power/Gas, Scheduling, Nominations, Positions, Risk & Settlements
• Architecture governance and tactical vs. strategic solution assessment
• ETRM platform rationalisation and technical-debt reduction
• Enterprise data, canonical data models & integration architecture
