Job description

To be an efficient and flexible member of the Molecular laboratory team providing a high quality diagnostic service through scientific and technical activities commensurate with the training and education of a Biomedical Scientist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

To maintain competence to practice and to improve professional expertise through engagement in Continual Professional Development (CPD).

We are looking to recruit an entry level biomedical scientist to join our busy Molecular team based at Royal Wolverhampton New Cross Hospital which is part of the Black Country Pathology Services. This post is a permanent contract of 37.5 hours per week. We are a fully UKAS accredited, forward looking and dynamic department using modern equipment to deliver a quality routine and acute service to the Trust and surrounding GPs.

This post presents an opportunity to be part of an excellent team working in a busy and spacious hospital laboratory. You will carry out a wide variety of molecular techniques, including immunohistochemistry and frozen sections for WGS.

You should show evidence of continuing professional development and be able to demonstrate good planning, organisational and interpersonal skills as well as evidence of competence in problem solving and prioritising workloads. Excellent communication and multitasking skills are essential for this post.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

  • BSc (Hons) in Biomedical Sciences.
  • Registration portfolio from the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (IBMS).
  • 2 years experience within Cellular Pathology
