Job summary

Randstad Staffing is seeking an experienced Fullstack Software Engineer in London. The role combines backend work with modern frontend development, leveraging Ruby on Rails, Python, and Rust to deliver high-performance, scalable web applications.

You will work with React/Vue/Next.js, build and optimize data models in PostgreSQL, Redis, and MongoDB, and use AWS or other clouds with Docker/Kubernetes in a hybrid London setting.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional software development in fullstack or backend-heavy roles.
• Ruby on Rails web development experience.
• Strong Python (Django or FastAPI) with data processing knowledge.
• Rust knowledge for concurrent, memory-safe high-performance apps.
• Frontend experience with modern JS/TS frameworks and HTML/CSS.

Job Title: Fullstack Software Engineer (Rust / Ruby / Python)

Location: London, UK (Hybrid)

Job Type: Full-time

What We're Looking For

• Experience: 4+ years of professional software development experience in a fullstack or backend-heavy role.
• Polyglot Proficiency:
• Strong commercial experience with Ruby (preferably Ruby on Rails) for web application development.
• Solid proficiency in Python (Django, FastAPI, or similar) with an understanding of data processing.
• Production experience or a strong foundational knowledge of Rust, particularly in building concurrent, memory-safe, and high-performance applications.
• Frontend Knowledge: Experience working with modern JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue, or Next.js) and a solid understanding of web fundamentals (HTML/CSS).
• Database Expertise: Deep knowledge of relational databases (PostgreSQL) and NoSQL stores (Redis, MongoDB), including query optimization and schema design.
• Cloud & Infrastructure: Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure, and containerization orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Mindset: You are a problem-solver who embraces ambiguity. You care more about solving the problem effectively than being strictly tied to one programming language.

Bonus Points

• Experience migrating legacy applications (e.g., Ruby/Python to Rust).
• Contributions to open-source projects in Rust, Ruby, or Python.
• Familiarity with WebAssembly (Wasm).
