Job summary

SLB is seeking a geophysicist with depth imaging and FWI expertise to join our headquarters geophysics team. You will drive rapid adoption of new techniques and support innovative solutions for customers.

The role requires at least an MSc in geophysics or related field, with experience in earth model building and data science applications being a bonus. We offer hybrid work with on-site and home days.

Qualifications

• MSc level or higher in geophysics or closely related field.
• Experience in depth imaging and full-waveform inversion (FWI) is preferred.
• Knowledge of data science and machine learning applied to subsurface imaging is a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and adopt new technology for subsurface imaging.
• Develop innovative depth imaging solutions in collaboration with clients.
• Collaborate with R&E and operations leaders to implement techniques.
• Publish and share knowledge internally and externally.
• Build earth models and depth imaging expertise.

Job Summary:

Full-waveform inversion (FWI) is one of the most rapidly changing areas of technology in subsurface imaging and characterization today. We are looking for an experienced geophysicist with expertise in depth imaging and ideally FWI to join our headquarters geophysics team to ensure the rapid introduction of new techniques into our regional operations and support the development of innovative solutions to our customers’ challenges.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

• Early adoption and evaluation of new technology
• Development of innovative depth imaging solutions, working closely with clients
• Close liaison with both R&E and technical leaders in our operations teams
• Internal and external publication and knowledge sharing
• Experience, expertise and a passion for earth model building and depth imaging
• Relevant qualification to at least MSc level expected
• Knowledge and experience in the application of data science and machine learning to subsurface imaging challenges a bonus
