Veterinary Nurse – Full-Time
Somerset
£25,000 – £32,000 per year (DOE)
35 hours per week
My client is looking for a compassionate and skilled Veterinary Nurse to join our small, independent, and community-focused practice. Since 2014, this team has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality care with integrity and professionalism. If you’re passionate about animal welfare and value being part of a supportive and friendly team, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
In this full-time role, you’ll play a central part in supporting the vets during consultations, surgeries, and procedures. You’ll be responsible for administering medications and vaccinations, monitoring patient health and behaviour, performing diagnostic tests such as blood work and urinalysis, and maintaining detailed medical records. Preparing animals for surgery and ensuring post-operative care will also be part of your routine, alongside ensuring the clinic remains clean, organised, and fully equipped. Client education is another vital aspect, as you'll offer guidance on animal care, nutrition, and behaviour. Occasionally, you’ll also assist with front-of-house tasks such as appointment scheduling and client communications.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need to be a qualified Veterinary Nurse or possess equivalent experience. At least one year of experience in a veterinary setting is required, along with a solid understanding of veterinary lab procedures. You should be a confident communicator with a calm and organised approach, even in fast-paced situations. A true passion for animals is essential, and while leadership experience is a bonus, it’s not required.
They offer a competitive salary between £25,000 and £32,000, depending on experience, and a range of benefits including a company pension, cycle to work scheme, employee discounts, and free on-site parking. Most importantly, you’ll be part of a close-knit team in a practice that genuinely values high standards, client relationships, and a shared commitment to excellent care.
They seek someone with a positive outlook, a great sense of humour, and a strong team spirit. You’ll take pride in your work, communicate easily with clients, and thrive in an environment that prioritises consistency and care.
If you’re ready to make a meaningful difference to the lives of animals and their owners, they’d love to hear from you.
