Position: Full-Time Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Support for Severely Autistic Student
Start Date: ASAP

About the Role: Axcis are pleased to be working with a mainstream school in Islington, who are looking to recruit an experienced teaching assistant who has experience in working with severely autistic students. Our vibrant primary school in Islington is seeking a full-time Teaching Assistant who can start immediately.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide consistent one-to-one support for a student with severe autism.
  2. Assist the student in all aspects of learning and participating in classroom activities.
  3. Implement behaviour management strategies.
  4. Work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and other professionals to ensure the student's needs are met.
  5. Create a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  6. Monitor and record the student’s progress and give feedback to parents and caregivers.
Requirements:
  1. Previous experience working with children with severe autism is essential.
  2. A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting children with special educational needs.
  3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, ability to communicate with non-verbal students.
  4. Ability to work both collaboratively and independently.
  5. Relevant qualifications in education or childcare are desirable, but not essential.
