Job Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated pharmacist with a strong interest in mental health to join our Pharmacy Team at Dane Garth, Furness General Hospital, Barrow-in-Furness, LA14 4LF. This role focuses on delivering clinical pharmacy services to in-patient mental health units, including a mixed general adult ward, a mixed older adult ward, and a 136 unit.

Main Duties
Patient-Centered Clinical Pharmacy Service

You will provide high-quality pharmaceutical care as part of a multi-disciplinary team. This includes:

  • Clinical review of prescriptions and care planning
  • Participation in multi-disciplinary ward rounds
  • Providing medicines information to service users and staff
  • Supporting the development of robust medicines management processes
  • Engaging in clinical audits
  • Ensuring compliance with GPhC standards for dispensing
Professional Development and Training

You will support and train trainee pharmacists, students, and other healthcare professionals. Additionally, there are opportunities to further your qualifications through courses such as Psychiatry 1 and 2 from the College of Mental Health Pharmacy, a Postgraduate Certificate in Psychiatric Therapeutics from Aston University, a Clinical Diploma, and a Non-Medical Prescribing Qualification.

About Us

Lancashire & South Cumbria NHS Foundation Trust has fully implemented electronic prescribing and medicines administration systems in all inpatient settings. Our pharmacists have access to award-winning online mental health training packages.

Team and Support

You will be part of a large, supportive team of Clinical Pharmacists, Clinical Medicines Management Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants, Medicines Management Nurses, and Apprentices. There is no requirement to work on Bank Holidays or weekends.

Flexibility and Travel

Due to the dispersed locations of our units, occasional travel is required. However, mileage will be reimbursed.
