Job Summary

Are you a dedicated and registered Pharmacy Technician seeking a new challenge in a dynamic and fast-paced environment? Spectrum Community Health CIC is excited to offer an opportunity for a passionate Pharmacy Technician to join our integrated clinical workforce at HMP Forest Bank. Our Pharmacy Technicians play a vital role in delivering excellence in patient care and are increasingly involved in diverse patient-facing roles. No two days are the same in our friendly and supportive team.

Main Duties of the Job

We are committed to supporting and developing the skills of our pharmacy technicians to deliver a wide range of services, including some dispensary-based work. Applicants must have a minimum of NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services and be a registered pharmacy technician. While an accuracy-checking pharmacy technician is preferred, we are willing to provide training post-probation.

Qualifications

  • Essential: BTEC/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Pharmaceutical Sciences; accredited technician checking qualification.

Knowledge

  • Essential: Knowledge of medicines optimization, pharmacy legal requirements, and controlled drug legislation.
  • Desirable: Knowledge of pharmacy computer systems, security issues in prison environments, and substance misuse.

Skills

  • Essential: Good clinical pharmacy knowledge, computer literacy (Word, Excel), excellent communication skills, report preparation, influencing skills, understanding of data protection and confidentiality.
  • Desirable: Competency in Microsoft PowerPoint and Outlook, patient counseling, understanding prescribing information, medicines supply/administration, smoking cessation advising, immunization, and capillary blood testing.

Experience

  • Essential: At least 3 years post-qualification experience in community/hospital pharmacy, experience with potentially aggressive individuals, and working in challenging environments.
  • Desirable: Experience with substance misuse services and in a prison or similar setting.
