Job Summary

We are excited to announce an opportunity for a Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy team at HMP Pentonville, a Category B remand prison in North London, housing around 1115 patients. This role is ideal for an experienced pharmacist who enjoys a fast-paced environment and values collaborative work within clinical teams. The site has an aging population with long-term conditions and polypharmacy, requiring expert advice on medicines management and structured medication review clinics.

Location and Accessibility

HMP Pentonville is conveniently accessible via Caledonian Road and Highbury and Islington stations. Additionally, staff parking is available on-site. For those interested in further development, the site offers the opportunity to complete an independent prescriber course.

Working Hours
  • Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm
Salary
  • Up to £49,000 per annum, depending on experience

Main Duties of the Job

As a Pharmacist, you will be:

  • Responsible for providing and delivering an integrated, safe, legal, high-quality prison pharmaceutical service
  • Working closely with the Head of Healthcare and the multidisciplinary team to ensure service provision meets contractual obligations
  • Offering daily expert advice on pharmaceutical matters and ensuring a modern medicines management service for prisoners

Requirements
  • GPhC registered Pharmacist
  • Open to newly qualified pharmacists and beyond
  • Management and leadership experience (desirable)
  • Procurement and audit experience (desirable)
  • Vocational Master’s Degree in Pharmacy, including pre-registration training
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ideally, at least 2 years of pharmacist experience (preferred but not essential)
