A fabulous Family PA role has become available for an experienced person to look after a friendly family of four: two full-time working parents and two happy children, a girl aged 14 and a boy aged 10. The family live in Potten End, Hertfordshire. The children are looking for an intelligent, proactive and friendly person, who will help keep them organised and entertained.
You will be required to work Monday-Friday, with the main childcare requirement being before and after school, with household duties during the day. In the school holidays, the childcare element of the role will increase. There will be plenty of downtime during term time when the children are at school, but the family like to contract the full hours, to allow for flexibility (children off sick, school holidays, etc). There will also be times when the parents need to be away for work, so an overnight stay would be required. This would be agreed in advance and paid as overtime.
As well as engaging with the children in their hobbies and interests, working with the children to help with homework, encouraging good manners, behaviour and healthy eating will also be part of the childcare role. During term time, you will be responsible for the school runs and ensuring the children have everything they need for school each day (sports kit, school uniform, etc). In the school holidays, there will be time to have fun days out with the children, picnics, walks, bowling, cinema, trips to the zoo, meeting up with their friends, etc. Sometimes it will be as simple as sitting with them while they watch TV or read a book!
The family employ a cleaner three days each week, who also does the family laundry. In addition to childcare, duties include:
The ideal candidate will be proactive, energetic, and a competent cook, as well as a strong communicator so that everyone knows what’s going on. You should be a careful and confident driver (with a clean licence, and your own fully insured car) for school runs, activities and household errands. Duty mileage will be reimbursed.
The family is looking for someone who is self-motivated, with lots of common sense and would like to muck in and become part of the friendly family. The candidate will be a warm, honest and fun person who is pleasant to have around.
