Full-Time Lecturer (Module Lead)

Reports to: Programme Lead
Location: London Academy for Applied Technology, Aldgate
Contract Type: Full-Time,
Salary: To be decided depending on experience and qualifications

Job Purpose:

To deliver high-quality teaching, learning, and examination & assessment across designated programmes, while supporting students in achieving academic success. A major part of your role will be to act as Module Lead. Additionally, the role also includes overseeing the delivery and quality assurance of one or more modules, and begin structured training and mentorship to support progression towards responsibilities associated with the role of Cohort Lead.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Teaching & Learning

  • Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive lessons in line with the curriculum across levels.
  • Develop lesson plans, schemes of work, and teaching materials in line with the governing body
  • Use a range of teaching strategies and technologies and develop your own pedagogy to enhance student engagement and learning outcomes.
  • Provide academic support, tutorials, and guidance to students as needed.
  • Maintain flexibility to deliver classes in person and/or online, as required

2. Assessment & Examination

  • Design and set coursework, assignments, and assessments, while actively developing, setting, and marking formative and summative assessments.
  • Provide constructive feedback in line with internal and external marking criteria on student work within required timeframes
  • Participate in internal verification, standardisation, and moderation
  • Prepare students for external exams and contribute to exam invigilation where needed
  • Ensure assessment records are maintained accurately and submitted in a timely manner.

3. Academic Support

  • Provide academic guidance and tutorial support to students
  • Monitor student attendance, engagement, and progression
  • Participate in parent/student progress reviews and academic boards

4. Programme Development & Quality

  • Collaborate with colleagues to maintain and improve programme content and delivery
  • Contribute to curriculum review, development, and quality assurance processes
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of subject, pedagogy, and sector standards

5. Progression to Level Lead

  • Participate in structured training and mentoring to understand programme-level operations.
  • Shadow Programme Lead duties, including curriculum planning, quality reporting, and student progression monitoring.
  • Assist with timetabling, tutor coordination, student queries, and external body communications as part of development.
  • Attend management meetings and CPD relevant to academic leadership
  • Contribute to programme planning, quality assurance, and compliance activities

General Duties:

  • Take part in team meetings, staff development sessions, and quality improvement activities.
  • Uphold safeguarding, health and safety, and equality and diversity policies.
  • Maintain up-to-date subject knowledge and comply with college and awarding body requirements.
  • Act as a professional role model for students and colleagues.
Requirements

Essential Criteria:

  • Relevant degree or experience in Business Studies or related field
  • Experience in teaching, training, or tutoring within a college or education setting
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Commitment to student success and continuous improvement
