Summary

The role of Lead Antimicrobial Pharmacist entails facilitating the cost-effective use of antimicrobials through regular reporting to Divisional/business unit/trust-wide management and consultant teams. Providing a specialized clinical pharmacy service involves evaluating individual patient medications for interactions, duplication, etc., utilizing medicines information and research findings to manage therapeutic problems, reduce risks, and advise healthcare professionals. This may entail analyzing incomplete or conflicting data. Maintaining and developing policies and procedures covering all aspects of the pharmacy service regarding antimicrobials, including administrative, clinical, technical, and training information and Standard Operating Procedures, is crucial.
