Job summary

Bury Council is seeking Step-Forward Foster Carers in the Bury area to provide stable, nurturing, day-to-day care for children or sibling groups within your home. This full-time role centers on creating routine, trust, and safety to positively influence a child’s development.

Applicants should have Right to Work in the United Kingdom, a spare bedroom, and a commitment to ongoing support from social workers and therapists. Training and support are provided.

Qualifications

• Must be aged 21 or over (no upper age limit).
• Must have the legal Right to Work in the United Kingdom.
• Able to provide full-time care for a child or children in their home (at least one carer must be present on a full-time basis if applying as a couple).
• Must have a spare bedroom(s) for fostering.
• Experience supporting children, young people, or adults, particularly those with complex needs or challenging behaviours (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Full-time care for a child or sibling group moving from residential care.
• Provide stability, routine, and reassurance within a nurturing home.
• Support the child's emotional, behavioural, and social development.
• Work closely with social workers, therapists and other professionals.
• Keep clear records and provide therapeutic, relationship-based care.
• Help children maintain family relationships through Family Time.
