A community health organization in the Isles of Scilly is looking for a Full Time Employed Dentist to provide comprehensive dental care to residents and visitors. Responsibilities include offering emergency dental treatment, promoting oral health, and working collaboratively with the healthcare team. Candidates should possess GDC registration and have a commitment to clinical governance standards. This role includes opportunities for professional development and flexibility in duties.
Encourage and provide regular dental care for adults and children resident on the islands, treating a targeted number of patients.
Provide emergency dental care for residents and visitors to the islands, ensuring all patients presenting with a dental emergency receive advice and treatment within 24 hours of contact, either directly or via our Call Centre.
Minimize mainland referrals for specialist or generalist dental services.
Enhance the oral health of the island population, with particular emphasis on child dental health.
Work as part of the whole dental team in delivering dental care services to patients and collaborate with other health professionals on the islands and in Cornwall.
Be flexible with duties to ensure the smooth running of the practice and take ownership of tasks to complete them accurately and promptly.
Provide excellent service, including written clinical details, to enable colleagues to deliver face-to-face treatment or other interventions at future appointments.
Engage actively with Smile Together teams, participating in peer review, clinical audits, planning, development sessions, and in-house meetings. Use feedback mechanisms for concerns raised.
Ensure safe working and practice on a daily basis, complying with clinical governance, legislation, health, safety, and security procedures. Report accidents, incidents, and near misses using the Smile Together incident reporting procedure.
Maintain and develop your clinical competency and ongoing professional development according to training needs via our Smile Together Training Academy and external providers.
Develop a Personal Development Plan as per GDC Standards.
Occasionally, you may need to work at other locations, integrating as part of the local team.
Contribute to the success of our organization and act as an ambassador for the company's vision, mission, and values, demonstrating related behaviors.
Represent Smile Together professionally, leading by example.
Maintain good IT skills, including proficiency in our Practice Management System.
