Our individuals living at our Maidstone group home are looking for a Community Support Worker to assist with their daily needs. The expected diagnoses include schizophrenia, OCD, dementia, anxiety disorders, autism spectrum disorder, and Down syndrome. Individuals may display physical behaviors of concern, and behavioral support plans will be provided to help them achieve their goals. The position requires driving to medical appointments, providing behavioral and communication support, working with non-verbal individuals, and engaging in activities such as swimming.
About You:
You are compassionate, attentive, and passionate about working with people with disabilities. You are comfortable providing personal care, participating in social and recreational activities, advocating in the community, and encouraging healthy lifestyles and social interactions. You have a good knowledge of community events and activities that can be integrated into the Individuals' routines. You are professional, take ownership, and are willing to follow agency policies and procedures. You are solution-driven, able to identify support needs, and committed to understanding and acting in the best interest of your Individuals while maintaining professional boundaries. You have previous experience working with individuals with disabilities and are willing to research, develop, and implement programs for their growth. You can manage administrative tasks effectively to build rapport with the Individuals.
This permanent position is 40 hours/week at our Maidstone group home in Northeast Calgary. The schedule is Tuesday, Wednesday from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and Tuesday, Friday, Saturday from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. The starting pay rate is $21.19 per hour, with potential raises after an annual evaluation. After a three-month probationary period, you will be eligible for health and dental benefits, along with five flex days. Mileage reimbursement is provided at $0.50/km, as driving is required.
