Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Chief Pharmacist to provide clinical leadership in transforming the way our Trust procures, records, stores, dispenses, administers, and disposes of medicines. Engaging strategically, you will perform the duties and responsibilities mandated by the Pharmacy Regulator, ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements for medicines optimization. As the professional lead for all pharmacists within the Trust, you will facilitate their supervision and support, ensuring adherence to registration requirements and the delivery of excellent patient care.

Responsibilities:

Act as the superintendent pharmacist, meeting obligations set by the General Pharmaceutical Council.

Execute the duties and responsibilities of the Chief Pharmacist as mandated by the Pharmacy Regulator.

Ensure Trust compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements for medicines optimization.

Provide specialist advice on procurement, use, and storage of medicines, addressing potential side effects.

Develop a prescribing formulary, assessing treatment suitability for patients in pre-hospital, urgent care, and primary care contexts.

Offer professional strategic leadership in medicines optimization and management systems, promoting safe and cost-effective use.

Collaborate with clinicians, managers, and healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of safe and economic medicines optimization systems.

Contribute to the development of clinical protocols, treatments, patient group directions, and guidelines for medicines use within the Trust.
