Job summary

Westward Care is seeking a Full Time Care Assistant for nights and days at Hunslet Moor House in Leeds. The role covers all shifts: 7.00am–2.00pm, 2.30pm–10.00pm, 7.00am–10.00pm and 10.00pm–7.00am, with alternate weekends.

DBS Enhanced required, and flexibility to cover sickness and holidays is essential. Applicants should be able to work unsocial hours, weekends and Bank Holidays as needed to support a 24/7 service.

Qualifications

  • Has appropriate training/qualifications e.g. Care Certificate and Level 2 qualification in care
  • Willing to undertake any training/qualifications required to support the Care Assistant role
  • Has knowledge of electronic care planning systems and call systems within the home
  • Has a working understanding of the Mental Capacity Act, DoLs, Infection Control, Safeguarding Vulnerable adults and Data protection.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example, ensuring equality, dignity and respect for customers and staff.
  • Maintain a professional appearance according to uniform standards.
  • Provide care per individual care plans, following the Care Manager's instructions.
  • Support cleanliness and general appearance of Hunslet Moor House.
  • Uphold health and safety standards per guidelines.
  • Complete all paperwork accurately within timeframes.
  • Collaborate with team for quality care and smooth operations.
  • Share knowledge to enhance customer experience.
  • Participate in training to meet mandatory requirements.
  • Provide timely updates to the Care Manager in an agreed format.
  • Use various communication methods to meet customer needs.
  • Maintain confidentiality where appropriate.
  • Participate in team and line manager meetings.
  • Deliver care promoting independence, dignity and choice for customers.
  • Encourage customer participation in social and leisure activities.
  • Address concerns proactively; improve customer service.
  • Identify opportunities for improving customer service and suggest new offerings.
  • Create an excellent first impression for customers.
  • Foster a customer-first ethos with internal customers.
  • Ensure a welcoming atmosphere for customers and visitors.

Job description

Full Time Care Assistant - Nights/Days

Hours - This role is a full time Care Assistant position covering all shift hours which include:

7.00am - 2.00pm / 2.30pm - 10.00pm / 7.00am - 10.00pm / 10.00pm - 7.00am and Alternate Weekends. Candidates must be available to cover these shift hours.

OVERALL OBJECTIVES:

To ensure that all customers consistently receive care that is person-focused and promotes health and well being. Delivered in a professional, kind and respectful way.

The post holder will be expected to work when required to cover for sickness and holidays.

You will be required to work unsocial hours, weekends and Bank Holidays as necessary to meet the needs of the service.

The service operates 24 hours per day, seven day per week and flexibility is essential to meet the needs of the service.

Level of DBS disclosure required: Enhanced

  • Ensure a welcoming atmosphere for customers and visitors, handling inquiries professionally and courteously.
