Job summary

Limebrook Primary School & Nursery in Maldon, Essex, is seeking an Assistant Headteacher on a full-time permanent basis. The role is leadership-focused with responsibilities across teaching and learning, safeguarding and behaviour, and strategic development.

The successful candidate will work with the Head of School and leadership team, deliver in key areas such as curriculum, assessment, inclusion or behaviour, and contribute to the School Improvement Plan.

Qualifications

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Significant teaching and leadership experience, e.g. middle leadership.
  • Proven track record of improving pupil outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Headteacher in leadership and management of the school.
  • Lead and drive improvement in a key area of responsibility (e.g. curriculum).
  • Monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning across the school.
  • Use data to improve pupil outcomes and inform strategic decisions.
  • Line manage and support teaching and support staff.
  • Lead professional development, coaching and mentoring of staff.
  • Contribute to the School Improvement Plan and self-evaluation processes.
  • Ensure high expectations of behaviour, achievement and inclusion.
  • Work with governors, parents and external agencies.
  • Undertake teaching responsibilities as required.

This is an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Head of School to join our team at Limebrook Primary School & Nursery to make a positive impact in raising standards and the quality of experience for our children.

Working with the Head of School and also alongside the wider leadership team, you will be based at Limebrook Primary School & Nursery and will be responsible for developing consistent practice in teaching and learning, pastoral care, safeguarding and behaviour, ensuring that children achieve the highest standards of attainment and achievement.

The successful candidate will lead on a specific area of school development (e.g. curriculum, teaching & learning, assessment, inclusion, or behaviour) and contribute to the strategic direction of the school.

Assistant Headteachers play a central role in leadership, helping to implement the school's vision and improve outcomes for all pupils

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with governors, parents and external agencies
  • Undertake teaching responsibilities as required

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Has significant teaching experience and leadership experience (e.g. middle leadership)
  • Has a proven track record of improving pupil outcomes
  • Demonstrates strong leadership, organisational and communication skills
  • Has excellent knowledge of the curriculum and assessment
  • Is able to inspire, motivate and support staff
  • Is committed to inclusion, safeguarding and high standards
  • Is ambitious and ready for senior leadership
  • Has experience of working with children with individual learning plans (ILPs) and adapting teaching to meet a range of learning needs.
  • Has Experience of supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including working alongside the SENDCo and external agencies
  • Has some experience as a member of a school safeguarding team.
