Job summary

Teaching Personnel, in partnership with a specialist school in Neath, is seeking a Full‑Time ALN Teaching Assistant for the 2026-2027 academic year. You will support pupils 1:1 and in small groups, help with emotional regulation, and assist with frame learning across curricula.

This role is term-time only with no weekends and holidays off. The school focuses on ASC, SEMH, challenging behaviour, and communication needs, offering a nurturing, structured environment with dedicated consultant

Qualifications

  • Team Teach Level 2 (Ideal).
  • Experience in SEN / ALN / SEMH settings.
  • Background in care, youth work, psychology or education.
  • Trauma-informed or behaviour support experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support pupils 1:1 and in small groups.
  • Assist with behaviour regulation and emotional support.
  • Use positive handling strategies where required.
  • Support learning across the curriculum.
  • Work closely with teachers and support staff.
  • Help pupils develop independence, confidence & communication.
  • Be a consistent, trusted adult for learners who need stability.

Teaching Personnel - In Partnership With the School

Term time only - meaning: Weekends off All school holidays & bank holidays off

Teaching Personnel is proud to be working exclusively in partnership with a specialist School in the Neath area to recruit a Full‑Time ALN Teaching Assistant for the 2026-2027 academic year.

This is a rewarding, long‑term opportunity supporting pupils with Additional Learning Needs (ALN) in a nurturing, structured, and highly specialist environment. Due to the complexity of learner needs, shortlisted applicants must be able to commit to full‑time hours for the full academic year.

This is a highly supportive, inclusive ALN setting specialising in supporting children with complex additional needs, including:

  • Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
  • Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs
  • Challenging behaviour
  • Speech, language & communication needs
  • Sensory processing differences
  • Trauma‑informed and attachment‑aware profiles
