Job description

37 hours per week (hours are variable Monday - Saturday (5 days a week) but fixed in 10 week blocks).

A Scottish Swimming Teacher Qualification (or equivalent) is essential. A National Pool Lifeguard qualification is also essential (or to be obtained after the offer of employment).

JOB PURPOSE:

To be a member of a team of dedicated teaching staff concerned with the delivery and development of swimming lessons at Perth Leisure Pool.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Operational Duties
  • Organise and deliver swimming lessons, within Perth Leisure Pool and other Live Active Leisure facilities as required.
  • Carry out administrative duties in connection with the efficient operation of programmes.
  • Contribute to developing programme content.
  • Regularly carry out and record safety checks for equipment and facilities used to deliver programmes.
  • Assist in the production of material for the marketing and promotion of programmes.
  • Coach a range of physical activities.
  • Assist in the recruitment and development of coaches and instructors.
  • Work closely with facility-based staff to ensure the effective operation of the programmes.
  • Organisation and preparation for classes taught, including session plans, class lists, and administration of the swimming lesson programme.
  • Arrange appropriate equipment for classes.
Health and safety
  • To comply with the requirements of the Health & Safety at Work Act 1974 and all supplementary legislation.
  • To ensure that any defect or damage to the building or items of equipment is reported to management of facilities.
  • To ensure programmes are delivered in line with operational policies and guidelines.
Training
  • To attend regular staff training sessions, be they held in-house or externally.
  • Assist in regular in-house or external training for coaches and instructors.
General
  • To ensure you are physically fit to carry out your duties at all times.
  • To carry out other reasonable duties as may be required.
