Job description

Are you motivated to create impact on a global scale? If so, we want you!

We’re Neutreeno, a world leader in resource and emissions flow mapping for global supply chains. Born out of the University of Cambridge’s Department of Engineering, we believe that climate change is the greatest challenge of our time. Frustrated with the ever-widening gap between climate ambition and on-the-ground action, Neutreeno was founded by leading climate scientists and engineers to close this gap by building a software that unlocks rapid decarbonisation. We believe that there is a massive opportunity to drive efficiencies and cost reductions on a scale never seen before by embedding data and emissions intelligence into the core of how businesses and supply chains operate.

We’re a fast-moving team that values EQ just as much as IQ. Autonomy, high-ownership, speed and no-ego collaboration are at our core. We seek people who care deeply and are eager to work on solving problems bigger than themselves.

The Role

As an experienced full stack software engineer, you’ll take strong ownership of Neutreeno’s end-to-end systems and will be eager to do everything involved in creating a world-leading product. You’ll design, build, and scale our core services, drive best practices and play a crucial role in contributing to a high-performing software team & our low‑carbon future.

You’ll work together with product, commercial and industrial engineering teams. This is a role for someone who thrives taking ownership of features from conception to deployment; collaborating across teams to balance technical excellence with business needs; building high‑quality systems amidst competing priorities; and ready to make immediate impact at the intersection of product, engineering, and business.

As part of a dynamic and fast‑paced startup, you'll thrive on the challenge of building something extraordinary—tapping into and leveraging your proven full stack expertise. You’ll have the opportunity to shape user experiences from the ground up and create exceptional digital experiences. Your work at Neutreeno will directly impact companies around the world.

This position operates on a hybrid work model that fosters both teamwork and individual flexibility, with 3 days per week in our Cambridge office. Exceptional London‑based candidates will be considered with a 2‑day per week office requirement.

The Work You’ll Do
  • Build the future of decarbonisation by designing and implementing responsive, modular SPAs that handle complex emissions data and flow mapping. You'll work across the full stack from crafting intuitive front‑end experiences to architecting scalable back‑end systems
  • Own critical architectural decisions and shape our technical foundation as we scale. You'll write, deploy, and maintain infrastructure using Terraform and AWS, work within our CI/CD pipelines to ship fast and reliably, and collaborate closely with UX/UI designers to translate ambitious product visions into production‑ready code
  • Obsess over performance, quality, and craft. You'll identify and crush bottlenecks to deliver lightning‑fast experiences, participate in code reviews that push the team forward, and stay hungry for emerging technologies and best practices that can give us an edge
The Minimum Qualifications You’ll Need
  • 5+ years of experience building full‑stack web applications end‑to‑end, growing products and owning complex systems
  • Proven experience building complex web applications, considering clean and simple architecture, security, scaling, performance and maintainability
  • Proven experience with some of React, TypeScript, Python, Apollo GraphQL, AWS and Terraform
  • Strong product sense with ability to frame problems, prioritise bets and push the right ones forward
  • The ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in early‑stage startups (Seed to Series A), with a preference for those who have been part of an early software team that has built scalable software
  • Degree in Computer Science or other relevant technical focuses
  • Experience with cloud services and database technologies (e.g., Postgres and AWS)
  • Proficiency in working with CI/CD pipelines
What We Offer

Compensations & Benefits:

  • £60,000 - £90,000 base pay dependent on your skills, qualifications and experience
  • Stock option plan so you can become a co‑owner in the business
  • Company pension with NEST

  • Cycle to work scheme
  • A hybrid work model that fosters both teamwork and individual flexibility (2 days remote per week).
  • Remote working allowance (2 weeks per year)
  • Work from Neutreeno HQ at the Cambridge Institute for Sustainability Leadership, recognised by the Financial Times as one of Europe's leading startup hubs (complete with an awesome rooftop terrace for summer socials)

Culture & Growth:

  • Join a fast‑growing company (200%+ YoY team growth) that recently raised a $5M seed round, with momentum continuing to build
