Full Stack Engineer (Team Lead)

Type: 4 month fixed term contract (expected to role into perm).

Location: Remote first approach - occasional travel to London once or twice per month (candidates must be based in the UK).

This is a great opportunity for a Full Stack Engineer to join on an initial 4-month fixed term contract, with potential for permanent extension, helping build and lead an innovative team.

Role Overview:

The Full Stack Engineer will design, develop, and maintain their platform, requiring expertise in front-end and back-end technologies, scalable architecture, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Leadership: Lead and mentor developers, ensuring high-quality code and best practices.
• Full-Stack Development: Design and implement features using React, Node.js, Directus, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and APIs.
• Matrix/Synapse Integration: Develop real-time messaging features using Matrix/Synapse.
• Cloud & DevOps: Manage deployments, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or similar).
• Database & API Management: Design schemas and develop APIs for data integration.
• Performance Optimization, Code Review & QA, Security Best Practices.

Skills and Experience:

• Experience with Directus or similar CMS solutions.
• Strong understanding of RESTful & GraphQL APIs.
• Leadership and mentoring experience.
• Hands-on cloud and DevOps experience.
• Agile, CI/CD, Git, Docker experience.
• Arabic language skills for platform bilinguality.
• Experience with AI/ML or recommendation systems.
• Expertise in Matrix/Synapse, WebSockets, real-time messaging.
• Knowledge of platform monetisation and payment systems.
• Understanding of access control, OAuth, JWT, and data privacy.
