Full Stack Engineer (Team Lead)

Type: 4 month fixed term contract (expected to role into perm).

Location: Remote first approach - occasional travel to London once or twice per month (candidates must be based in the UK)

Role Overview:

The Full Stack Engineer will design, develop, and maintain their platform, requiring expertise in front-end and back-end technologies, scalable architecture, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Leadership: Lead and mentor developers, ensure high-quality code, follow best practices, and adhere to agile methodologies.
• Full-Stack Development: Develop platform features using React, Node.js, Directus, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and APIs.
• Matrix/Synapse Integration: Develop real-time messaging and collaboration features with Matrix/Synapse.
• Cloud & DevOps: Manage deployments, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or similar).
• Database & API Management: Design schemas and develop secure RESTful/GraphQL APIs.
• Performance Optimization, Code Review & Quality Assurance, Security Best Practices.

Skills and Experience:

• Experience with Directus or similar headless CMS solutions.
• Strong understanding of RESTful & GraphQL APIs.
• Leadership experience in development teams and mentoring.
• Hands-on with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), DevOps, Docker.
• Arabic language skills for bilingual platform support.
• Experience with AI/ML integrations or recommendation systems.
• Matrix/Synapse expertise for real-time communication.
• Knowledge of WebSockets, event-driven architectures.
• Platform monetisation and payment integration experience.
• Understanding of access control, OAuth, JWT, and data privacy regulations.
