Full Stack Engineer (Team Lead)

Type: 4-month fixed-term contract (expected to roll into permanent).

Location: Remote-first approach - occasional travel to London once or twice per month (candidates must be based in the UK).

This is a great opportunity for a Full Stack Engineer to join on an initial 4-month contract, with potential to extend permanently, to help build and lead an innovative team.

Role Overview:

The Full Stack Engineer will be key in designing, developing, and maintaining the platform, requiring expertise in both front-end and back-end technologies, scalable architecture, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

• Technical Leadership: Lead and mentor developers, ensuring high-quality code, best practices, and agile methodologies.
• Full-Stack Development: Design, develop, and maintain platform features using React, Node.js, Directus, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and APIs.
• Matrix/Synapse Integration: Develop real-time messaging and collaboration features using Matrix/Synapse.
• Cloud & DevOps: Manage deployments, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or equivalent).
• Database & API Management: Design schemas and develop secure RESTful/GraphQL APIs.
• Performance Optimization, Code Review, Security: Ensure optimal performance, code quality, and security best practices.

Skills and Experience:

• Experience with Directus or similar CMS solutions.
• Strong understanding of RESTful & GraphQL APIs.
• Leadership experience in development teams.
• Hands-on with cloud platforms and DevOps practices.
• Experience with CI/CD, Git, Docker.
• Arabic language skills for platform bilingual support.
• Experience with AI/ML integrations or recommendation systems.
• Expertise with Matrix/Synapse for real-time communication.
• Knowledge of WebSockets, event-driven architectures.
• Platform monetisation and payment integration experience.
• Knowledge of access control, authentication, data privacy regulations.
