Volition in Central London is seeking a Full-Stack Software Engineer to design, develop and continually improve production systems used by real-world clients. The role requires a solid full-stack background with modern practices and strong API design capabilities.

The ideal candidate has 3–10 years of experience, hands-on work with Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js and React, and a track record of shipping production-grade software.

• Experience building and maintaining production apps.

Full-Stack Software Engineer - Next.js / TypeScript / Node.js

Location: Central London

Working Pattern: Hybrid - minimum 3 days per week in the office

Experience: Approximately 3-10 years

The Role

You will work on the design, development and ongoing improvement of production systems used by real-world clients and users. We are particularly interested in engineers who can demonstrate not only strong technical skills, but a solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, scalability and development best practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain modern full-stack applications using Next.js, TypeScript, Node.js and React.
• Take ownership of features throughout the development lifecycle, from design through to production.
• Develop scalable, maintainable and well-structured software.
• Build and integrate APIs and backend services.
• Work across both frontend and backend components of the platform.
• Apply strong software engineering principles around testing, code quality, architecture and maintainability.
• Participate in technical discussions, code reviews and architectural decisions.
• Identify opportunities to improve application performance, reliability and developer experience.
• Work collaboratively with engineers and wider stakeholders to deliver high-quality products.

Candidates should have:

• Strong and recent commercial Next.js experience.
• Genuine full-stack engineering exposure rather than exclusively frontend development.
• Experience developing and maintaining production applications.
• Experience designing or integrating APIs and backend services.
• Understanding of modern application architecture and scalable system design.
• Strong knowledge of testing, version control, code reviews and modern development practices.
