Full stack Software Developer

Locations: Cheltenham, Cambridge, Bristol, Manchester, London

Type: Permanent

Salary: £45,000 - £85,000 per annum

Security Clearance: DV Clearance

Full Stack Software Developer – Cheltenham, Cambridge, Bristol, Manchester or London – Permanent (37.5 hours per week) – £45,000 - £85,000 (different levels available) – DV Clearance

Our large consulting client works within the Defence industry to provide clients with functional and innovative web applications.

You will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining web applications, requiring experience across the full development lifecycle. This role offers opportunities to work on exciting government projects!

Candidates should have experience within Defence/Government organisations and an understanding of their practices, as well as experience with both front-end and back-end technologies.

Working Patterns: This is a hybrid role with 2-3 days per week on-site, but candidates must be willing to travel up to 4 days per week across the UK if required.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Design, develop, and deploy robust web applications for the Government and Defence sector.
  2. Work across the entire software development lifecycle in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  3. Create responsive user interfaces using modern front-end technologies and frameworks.
  4. Develop secure and efficient server-side logic using appropriate languages and frameworks.
  5. Implement security best practices, ensuring compliance with government regulations.
  6. Conduct regular security assessments and collaborate to address vulnerabilities.
  7. Develop and maintain well-documented RESTful APIs for system communication.
  8. Collaborate with project managers, UX/UI designers, and stakeholders to translate requirements into technical specifications.
  9. Communicate effectively with non-technical stakeholders for feedback and project alignment.

Required Skills:

  • Experience developing web applications for the Government or Defence sector.
  • Front-end development skills in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and frameworks like React, Angular, or Vue.js.
  • Strong server-side skills in Node.js, Python, or Java.
  • Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases, including data modelling.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • UX principles knowledge for creating accessible and user-friendly applications (desirable).
  • Proven experience in developing and maintaining RESTful APIs.
  • Experience implementing security best practices for government data.
