Job description
Overview

The Commercial Informatics Unit is a growing team of Developers and Data Scientists with the remit for innovation in data analytics and visualisation within the NHS. The team’s principles foster creativity and continuous improvement. The role initially focuses on the creation and maintenance of VBA automations and Excel-based systems, with a transition over time to a modern cloud microservices architecture and open source frameworks, libraries, and databases. You will lead in creating interactive and intuitive applications to aid in policy and decision making as well as direct patient care, participating in the design and creation of scalable applications and services using cloud-native technologies and clean, functional code.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake complex and detailed information analysis of specific projects/reports requiring high levels of concentration.
  • Update, maintain, organise, gather and analyse information to predict/meet future organisational and team needs by identifying best professional practice.
  • Monitor and track risks, embedding proactive resolution and escalation processes.
  • Contribute to the information management of performance, taking a lead for specific projects.
  • Provide coordination of and participate in relevant meetings, reporting attendance and providing information, advice and support where requested.
  • Ensure that data collected is analysed and reported by the team as appropriate and monitor the processing of data and information.

Role Details

As a full stack developer you’ll work with VBA, Power Query and Excel macros to increase automation within financial management. As we move away from heavy reliance on Excel, the focus will gradually shift to microservice-based applications using the Microsoft stack (C#, SQL Server, Razor, JQuery, CSS).

What You Will Do
  • Lead requirement analysis, production and review of technical design solutions for large/complex programmes.
  • Lead efficient software development with good design, emphasising code reuse, efficiency, and innovative methodologies.
  • Apply technical experience to evaluate solutions and maintain technical awareness to advise, analyse and model alternatives.
