Full Stack Developer

The Commercial Informatics Unit is a growing team of Developers and Data Scientists with the remit for innovation in data analytics and visualisation within the NHS. The team's principles are designed to foster creativity, enabling us to stay at the forefront of development and delivery, encouraging a culture of continuous improvement.

The role initially will be focussed on creation and maintenance of VBA automations and Excel based systems. Over time there will be a transition to using a modern cloud microservices architecture and open source frameworks, libraries, and databases, where you will lead in creating interactive and intuitive applications to aid in everything from policy and decision making to direct patient care. This will include participating in the design and creation of scalable applications and services, using cloud-native technologies, applying your skills in the writing of clean, functional code.

Main duties of the job
  • Undertake complex and detailed information analysis of specific projects/reports requiring high levels of concentration
  • Update, maintain, organise, gather and analyse information to predict/meet future organisational and team needs by identifying best professional practice
  • Monitor and tracking risks. Embedding proactive resolution and escalation processes
  • Contribute to the information management of performance, taking a lead for specific Projects
  • Provide coordination of and participate in relevant meetings, reporting attendance and providing information advice and support where requested
  • Ensure that data collected is analysed, reported by the team as appropriate and monitor the processing of data and information

Job responsibilities

As a full stack developer you'll be working with VBA, Power Query and Excel macros as part of a push to increase automation within financial management. As we move away from a heavy reliance on excel and into web applications the focus will gradually turn to Microservice based applications using Microsoft stack (C#, SQL Server, Razor, JQuery, CSS).

You will:

  • Undertake complex and detailed information analysis of specific projects/reports requiring high levels of concentration
  • Monitor and tracking risks. Embedding proactive resolution and escalation processes
  • Lead requirement analysis, production, and review of technical design solutions of large/complex programmes
  • Lead efficient software development using good design considering code reuse and efficiencies as well as innovative implementation methodologies
  • Apply technical experience and knowledge in the evaluation of solutions and maintain technical awareness to a level where alternatives can be advised, analysed and modelled
