Job summary

Borras Park Full Day Care Provision is seeking enthusiastic and caring Practitioners to join our childcare team. You will provide high-quality care, play and learning across our services for children aged 2 to 12 years, under supervision and aligned with ECPLC and Playwork Principles.

Qualifications

• Level 2/3 childcare qualification or working toward it.
• Experience in early years/childcare settings.
• Good understanding of child development.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Ability to build relationships with children and families.
• Caring, patient and enthusiastic.
• Team player with initiative.
• Commitment to equality and inclusion.
• Experience in Flying Start, playgroup, nursery or after-school settings.
• Knowledge of ECPLC framework.
• Playwork Principles.
• Experience recording observations and learning journeys.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality care, play and learning for ages 2–12.
• Meet, greet and register children; ensure safe arrivals.
• Support wellbeing, development and learning through positive interactions.
• Act as a key person for a group of children.
• Observe and record children's progress.
• Plan and deliver engaging activities.
• Promote independence, creativity and self-esteem.
• Support inclusive practice and ALN needs.
• Build partnerships with parents and carers.
• Maintain safeguarding, health, hygiene and wellbeing.
• Assist with snack, tidying and safe learning environments.
• Carry out risk assessments and maintain a safe environment.
• Record accidents and incidents accurately.
• Support outdoor play in all weather with supervision.
• Work with colleagues and external professionals.
• Participate in staff meetings and training.
• Support roles such as ALNCo or Welsh Language Champion.
• Contribute to reflective practice and improvements.
