Job summary

Energy Jobline ZR is recruiting an FSE Mechanic to join a skilled defence team in Fairford, UK, on a UK military base. You will work with a range of military fuel equipment, with on-site training provided and a clear path to further develop mechanical skills in a dynamic setting.

Ideal candidates bring prior fuel equipment experience and are prepared to perform inspections, repairs, calibrations and routine maintenance on complex systems, using a broad set of tools and documentation practices.

Responsibilities

• Applies knowledge of design, system function and hazards related to petroleum fuels, chemicals and alcohol; pipefitting and mechanical skills.
• Makes periodic inspections to detect and correct leakage, corrosion, faulty fittings and malfunctions of mechanical units and gauges.
• Inspects electrical wiring, switches and controls for safe operation, grounding and adjustment.
• Repairs, replaces and adjusts malfunctioning equipment following regulations and repair manuals.
• Adjusts power boosters, drive chains and tension devices.
• Solves complex maintenance problems by interpreting layouts, specifications, schematics and operating characteristics.
• Uses technical orders, manuals or automated systems to determine maintenance procedures and parts.
• Disassembles, adjusts, aligns and calibrates gauges and meters.
• Troubleshoots, adjusts, repairs and tests vehicles and equipment.
• Lubricates and repacks valves and pumps, replaces gaskets, checks calibration and serviceability of equipment.
• Annotates all maintenance on prescribed forms for data collection and history.
• Removes corrosion and repaints surfaces.
• Uses hand and power tools including torque wrenches, meters, bearing pullers and pipe threading equipment.
