Fuel Systems Engineer - R&T (SafeLeak Project)

Location: Filton (60% onsite)

Pay Rate: £43.47/hr PAYE | £57.50/hr Umbrella

Hours: 35 per week (flexible working between 7am-7pm)

Security Clearance: BPSS+ (handled by Airbus Security)

IR35 Status: Inside IR35

About the Role

Join Airbus' cutting-edge Research & Technology (R&T) team as a Fuel Systems Engineer, leading the exciting SafeLeak project - a key initiative shaping the future of fuel systems for next-generation aircraft.

This is your chance to work at the forefront of aerospace innovation, driving the development of new fuel system equipment from concept through to Technology Readiness Level 4 (and beyond). You'll collaborate with internal specialists, suppliers, and stakeholders to bring pioneering ideas to life.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Lead the SafeLeak R&T project, focusing on new fuel system equipment development.
  • Evaluate supplier technologies and select the right partner for future collaboration.
  • Define technical specifications, installation reports, and architecture dossiers.
  • Prepare and present project reviews, including a roadmap to TRL6.
  • Work closely with Airbus system specialists, R&T programme teams, and suppliers.

What We're Looking For

Must-Have:

  • Strong background in aerospace or aviation engineering.
  • Experience in systems engineering, especially early design phases.
  • Confident communicator with internal teams and external suppliers.
  • Familiarity with TRL (Technology Readiness Level) processes.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience with avionic fuel systems.
  • Project management skills.
  • Knowledge of Airbus-specific design processes.
