Job description

FTC Accounts Assistant - Remote with some in-person meetings

We have an exciting opportunity for an FTC Accounts Assistant to join us here at CILEX! We are seeking a dedicated Accounts Assistant to join our Finance Team, reporting directly to the Financial Operations Manager. In this role, you'll play a vital part in supporting our Accounts Payable team, with some additional duties within Credit Control and Accounts Payable processes, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of our day-to-day financial activities.

This is a 12-week contract (dependent on start date), starting as soon as possible, until the 31st October 2025. Applicants must be able to start as soon as possible following successful pre-employment checks.

Responsibilities include:

  • Process invoices, tutor claims, expenses, and assessor claims
  • Enter manual payments on Bankline and process in Sage
  • Actively chase overdue debt using telephone calls, mail merges and any other appropriate methods
  • Support the Credit Control Manager in all areas of credit control
  • Allocate BACS receipts to customer accounts
  • Clear unprocessed cash, including searching shared Remittance mailbox
  • In conjunction with the Head of Finance, provide proactive support in meeting the changing needs of the Finance department and responding to ad-hoc requirements as needed

Essential skills:
  • Proven experience in an accounts role
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Ability to demonstrate experience of working with accounting software packages in an Accounts role
  • Able to demonstrate an understanding of customer service excellence in both written and verbal communication
  • Able to demonstrate previous accounts payable experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain a high level of accuracy
Desirable skills:
  • AAT Qualification or working towards
  • Knowledge of SAGE 200 would be advantageous
