Job summary

Reading Borough Council is seeking a Social Worker for the Advice and Wellbeing Hub in Reading. You will be the first point of contact for adults, carers, and professionals, delivering short-term, person-centred interventions to maximise independence and wellbeing.

You will conduct Strengths-based Care Act assessments, Mental Capacity assessments, and coordinate best interest decisions, while safeguarding cases and providing clear practical guidance within statutory frameworks.

Qualifications

• A Social Work degree (or equivalent).
• Registration with Social Work England.
• A solid understanding of the Care Act 2014.

Responsibilities

• Completing strengths-based Care Act assessments.
• Undertaking Mental Capacity assessments.
• Coordinating best interest decisions.
• Managing safeguarding enquiries where needed.
• Offering clear, practical advice, information, and guidance.
• Managing a short-term, varied caseload designed to boost wellbeing and independence.
