Job summary

Wyre Council is looking for a hardworking LGV Driver / Labourer to support frontline environmental services in Wyre. You will drive LGV vehicles, perform street cleansing and labouring tasks, outdoors in all weather, and engage with local communities in a professional manner.

Qualifications

• Current, valid LGV Class 2 (C) driving licence.
• Experience in street cleaning or similar operational environment.
• Knowledge of health and safety at work and safe working practices.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
• Physically able to undertake outdoor manual duties.
• Flexible working hours including weekends and bank holidays.
• IOSH Working Safely or equivalent qualification.
• CPC (Driver Certificate of Professional Competence).
• Experience operating cleansing vehicles, plant or machinery including sweepers.

Responsibilities

• Drive and operate LGV and other service vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Carry out mechanised street cleansing, bin emptying and general cleaning duties.
• Provide direction and support to colleagues working alongside the vehicle.
• Respond to environmental issues, including the removal and safe disposal of fly-tipped waste.
• Undertake general labouring and loading duties associated with street cleansing operations.
• Maintain a vigilant presence across the borough to help deter environmental crime and anti-social behaviour.
• Operate equipment, plant and machinery in line with health and safety requirements.
• Act professionally and courteously when always dealing with members of the public.
