Google DeepMind is seeking a Research Engineering Manager for the Responsible Frontier AI Research team in London. You will lead a team of Research and Software Engineers to build engineering foundations for responsible AI research, including automated platforms for discovering and mitigating jailbreaks, red-teaming tools, and safety evaluations.

• Experience leading teams on AI safety, security, or responsible AI research.
• Experience with automated red teaming, jailbreak discovery, and evaluation design.
• Track record of research or engineering achievements in peer-reviewed venues or open-source.

Responsibilities

• Set and communicate priorities for multiple workstreams within the responsibility organization.
• Hire, mentor, and grow a high-performing team; manage performance and development.
• Develop long-term technical goals and roadmaps for evaluation pipelines, red-teaming tools, and mitigation training.
• Oversee system designs, code quality, scalability, and secure handling of data.
• Collaborate with Researchers, Product, Policy, and Trust & Safety to inform model launch decisions.
