Job summary

Scrumconnect Ltd is seeking an experienced Frontend Developer to build accessible, high-quality digital services for UK government clients. You’ll work in an agile team using JavaScript, TypeScript and Node.js to craft the user-facing layer and APIs following GOV.UK standards.

You will develop with Express/Fastify, use Nunjucks where applicable, and work across SQL/NoSQL databases with Redis caching. The role requires BPSS and strong testing practices with Jest or Mocha, plus CI/CD and cloud

Qualifications

• BPSS check required.
• Experience with JavaScript, TypeScript and Node.js.
• Experience with Express or Fastify.
• Experience writing tests with Jest or Mocha.
• Experience with SQL or NoSQL databases.
• Experience with Redis and API microservices.
• Experience with AWS and Azure, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of WCAG accessibility and GOV.UK Design System (GDS).
• Experience in Agile, multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain accessible, responsive user interfaces and server-side apps using JavaScript, TypeScript and Node.js.
• Develop with Express or Fastify and with Nunjucks templates where used.
• Build and consume API microservices.
• Work with SQL or NoSQL databases; use Redis for caching and sessions.
• Write automated tests with Jest or Mocha; practice TDD.
• Follow GOV.UK Design System and GDS standards; meet the Service Standard.
• Ensure services meet WCAG accessibility; test with assistive tech.
• Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines; deploy on AWS and Azure.
• Review code, share best practices and mentor colleagues.
• Collaborate with designers, researchers and delivery teams to iterate.`
• Investigate and fix defects; support services in live environments.
