Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation in Glasgow, is currently looking to recruit a Front-End App Developer for an initial 6 month contract with potential to extend on a rate of £520/day (Outside IR35). This role will be hybrid working with attendance on site when required.
Responsibilities:
- Work across technical teams formed of supplier, contract and permanent resource
- Develop new features for web applications securely, following industry best practices
- Identify production and non-production design discrepancies and UI defects
- Train and share knowledge with colleagues
- Plan for future opportunities or blockers, ensuring team decisions align with technical direction
- Identify operational improvements and ensure a stable, enhancable service
- Anticipate and mitigate project challenges or risks
- Collaborate with service designers, UX specialists, and developers to turn wireframes and mockups into interfaces
Technology knowledge – ideally with experience in as many of the following as possible:
- Commercial experience with React, Typescript, NodeJS, Redux, HTML5, CSS3, Webpack, React Testing Library
- Experience with RESTful APIs
- Experience writing unit and integration tests
- Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, including build and package management
General knowledge – familiarity with:
- Good continuous integration and delivery principles
- Microservice design patterns
- Bridging technical and non-technical communication
- Translating technical concepts across infrastructure, delivery, and service management
- Representing technical teams and managing stakeholder relationships
- Sharing knowledge and mentoring colleagues, including non-technical
Additional desirable skills:
- Experience in building accessible websites per WCAG guidelines
- Knowledge of multiple JS frameworks (React, Angular, Vue)
- Java 8+ experience (advantageous)
- Designing and developing RESTful microservices
- Working with MySQL compatible databases (MySQL, RDS, Aurora, MariaDB)
- Knowledge of AWS and related tooling
- Experience with Docker, Bash, Shell Scripting
