Job summary

Provn seeks a Software Engineer (Front Office) to join its Glasgow team. You will design, build, and maintain high-performance backend services supporting trading activities, collaborating with traders and portfolio managers to translate requirements into scalable solutions.

The role offers exposure to modern Java/Spring Boot and Python, with opportunities to work across the stack and with multiple regions to deliver robust systems in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Commercial experience developing enterprise software applications.
• Experience within financial services, investment management, hedge funds, or capital markets.
• Strong backend engineering skills, ideally with Java, Spring Boot, and Python.
• Experience with modern software engineering practices and distributed systems.
• Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, software design principles, and system architecture.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent commercial experience.
• Willing and able to work onsite in Glasgow.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software solutions supporting front office investment and trading activities.
• Work closely with traders, portfolio managers, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver impactful solutions.
• Build scalable backend services using modern Java and Spring Boot technologies.
• Collaborate with engineering teams across multiple regions to deliver robust and reliable systems.
• Support integrations with internal platforms, market data providers, and external counterparties.
• Participate in system design discussions and contribute to technical decision-making.
• Help drive engineering best practices across development, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
